RMAC Congratulates Buck Leonard Honorees
Congratulations to the families of the honorees: Martin Dihigo, Lou Gehrig, Hank Greenberg, Buck O'Neil, Tony Perez, Joe Staton and Ben Taylor inducted into the inaugural class of the Buck Leonard First Baseman’s Hall of Fame.
The program was held on Saturday, October 29th at the Imperial Center.
A native of Rocky Mount, Walter "Buck" Leonard was a first baseman in the Negro league baseball. He played for the Homestead Grays in the 1930's and 1940's. Mr. Leonard was an outstanding baseball player but more importantly he was a role model and leader throughout his life.
RMAC was proud to be a sponsor of the program. Chapter members Angela Bryant, Natalie Brooks, Leah Hill, Chris Romero, Mary Sutton and Barbara B. Smith attended the event.
It was also a pleasure meeting Chris Lovingood, an award-winning anchor & reporter from WRAL who served as the emcee.
