🎉 Exciting news from the Rocky Mount Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.! We kicked off our sorority year with over 60 young girls participating in our Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, and Jabberwock Scholarship Programs this month!
🌟 On October 12, we held our first Jabberwock activity, "Politics and Me," where a member of our Social Action Committee, Shoneca Kent shared valuable insights on the importance of voting through an engaging PowerPoint presentation. 🗳️ Our young ladies were super interactive, asking questions and diving deep into why their vote matter! They also bonded over two fun activities: one involved sharing personal info and 3 fun facts about themselves, while the other had them creating personalized scrapbook pages! 📚💖 It was a great way to connect and learn more about each other! Here’s to a year filled with empowerment and growth! 💪
✨ Delta GEMS Kickoff Success! ✨ On October 19, we had an amazing time during our first “Getting to Know You” session with the incredible young ladies of Delta GEMS! 🎉 The morning was filled with fun and meaningful activities that brought everyone closer together. 💬 We kicked things off with Getting to Know You BINGO, followed by a commonality group activity, and a heartfelt girl talk surrounding Beyoncé’s inspiring video “Brown Skin Girl.” 🎶 A huge thank you to Natalie Bess for her empowering Social Action Girl Talk that left us all feeling motivated and ready to make a difference!
✨ The Delta Academy participants are kicking off the 2024-2025 program year with some serious Black Girl Magic! 💫 These talented young ladies teamed up in groups to plan their own events, all while working with a mystery budget. From glamorous black-tie affairs to impactful political rallies, they truly embraced every aspect of event planning! 🎉 Once their mystery budgets were revealed, they had the chance to reflect and re-evaluate their plans, thinking about what they might do differently next time. We can't wait to see the innovative ideas they come up with next month! 🌟
